ARTISTIC PURSUITS HELP KEEP THE MIND ACTIVE ………

Research in recent years to explore how creative activity
benefits older people found that artistic and creative
activities for the older generation were truly advantageous to a
healthy state of mind and body.
The Elderly Accommodation Council (AEC) over-60s Art Awards
competition offers a wonderful chance for amateur artists from
all over the country to engage in creative activity. EAC is now
calling for entries for its 2007 competition. With prizes worth
£3,000 and the chance of exhibiting in the prestigious Mall
Galleries in London, the EAC Over 60s Art Awards competition is
underway. This annual exhibition has been running for over a
decade and with every year has grown in quality and strength,
encouraging a national following of enthusiastic artists.
EAC is an independent national charity providing information,
advice and support to help older people meet their housing and
care needs.

Entries for the 2007 exhibition are invited from all UK based
amateur artists and can be in any medium – oils, pastels,
watercolours, pencil – as well as 3D work and photography.
Initial entry is by photograph or photocopy of the original
work, and artists can send in more than one work for
consideration.
The closing date for entries is 11th May 2007.
For an entry form and rules of entry, either download at

or send a stamped addressed envelope to:
Art Awards c/o Parker Harris Partnership, 15 Church Street,

Sponsorship
EAC is seeking sponsorship to expand Art Awards into the UK’s
foremost celebration of older people’s creativity. With mailings
to sheltered housing, residential care homes, artists, public
libraries, Art Centres and art shops, it provides a rare
opportunity for corporate/brand marketing, public relations,
entertaining and networking and an opportunity for sponsor
organisations to demonstrate their support for the wellbeing of
older people.
