Birkbeck College - Impact of Retirement on Men Study
Volunteers Needed
May 2010
ARE YOU MALE & APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AWAY FROM RETIREMENT?
… then would you be prepared to share your experiences for research purposes?
Prunella Gee is a PhD psychology student registered at Birkbeck College, University of London, researching men’s experience of retirement. As part of her investigation she is looking to interview 10 men of retirement age six months before and six months after their retirement. The recorded interviews will take approximately an hour, will all be individually conducted by her at a place and time convenient to you, and the contents will be strictly confidential. When the interviews are written up, all names will be changed and any identifying features removed or disguised. You will be asked to sign a consent form in which you will agree to the use of parts of the material in potential publications. You will have the right to withdraw up to 48 hours after the interview. The study has full ethical approval from Birkbeck.
Since Prunella is keen to interview you again, a year later, it is important to think about whether this is practicable. You can also have access to her supervisor – contact details will be provided on request – and all concerns can be discussed with Prunella, and addressed in detail before any meeting, via email, telephone or in person.
SO... if you are willing to have an initial chat - (experience from previous research is that it can be as interesting and informative for the participants as it is for the researcher) – here are Prunella's contact details:
