It's funny how the establishment works, isn't it?

It seems they won't believe a thing, no matter how obvious it is, unless they've waded through a ton of red tape and tests to prove its right. But mainstream minds seem to work in a completely different way to ours. Well, two stories that have caught my eye this week that illustrates the madness of the mainstream perfectly...

The enemy of common sense... Okay, I'll admit the above is a little far fetched. But it does seem to take the mainstream months, even years, to catch up with ideas and remedies that seem so obvious, us Goodlifers have been using them for years.

Take the first 'breakthrough' study I read about yesterday... A team of scientists in Sweden have discovered that modern foods can worsen diabetes, and that eating more fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts and lean meat could help people avoid diabetes altogether.

But isn't this OLD news? In this study, scientists found that patients with symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes could control their sugar levels far more easily when they switched to a prehistoric diet.

After 12 weeks, the carbohydrate-linked blood sugar rises had fallen by 26% in the patients that ate like dear old Fred Flintstone, whereas patients on a Mediterranean diet only saw a 7% fall.

What's more, at the end of the 12 weeks, every single one of the stone-age eaters had normal blood glucose. This is all great news, but in essence, all they're saying is eat less processed foods and eat NATURALLY.

To you and me that's common sense. Locally produced real foods are always going to be better for you than fake foods with added x, y and z that manufacturers claim can help you leap buildings in a single bound. And as a result, The Good Life Letter has championed natural, healthy eating ever since it started.

But I guess some people just won't be convinced about the most blindingly obvious things unless a team of doctors have studied it to death.

Here's another seemingly obvious idea that men in white coats have only just proved....

SHOCK HORROR! Organic foods are good for you!

Another recent study has just shown that organic fruit and veg are probably better for your heart than the usual crops grown using chemicals. Apparently, a study on tomatoes showed that the organic variety packed in almost twice as many antioxidants than the non-organic ones.

And these antioxidants, called flavonoids, help prevent a whole range of baddies like high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke. In fact, flavonoids have also been said to repel some cancers and dementia.

So the more flavonoids you can get, the better it seems to be. But get this...Because it's been hard to compare organic vs non-organic like for like, this study took ten years to complete.

Imagine if tomatoes were regarded as a mainstream medicine... it would have taken the establishment ten years before they allowed them to appear on a doctor's prescription pad!

Luckily, thanks to you and our fellow Good Lifer readers, we're always looking at powerful, natural remedies that can help us right now.

A message from Chris:

Attack of the Cats Claw!

About 15 years ago, after much suffering, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Crohn's disease.

I was told I would need an operation to remove the infected area in the bowel and three feet of intestines either side. I was told this would keep the intestines free of the disease for four to five years after which I would need to undergo the same operation again and also in future years.

By chance, a few weeks prior to the operation I saw an American doctor on the Richard and Judy Show who was trained as an orthodox doctor and also later in many so called unorthodox alternative practices.

He said he had been treating all Crohn's patients successfully with Cats Claw from the Peruvian Rainforest. A person phoned the show and was told to stop taking all her medicine gradually over two weeks and at the same time start taking a twice the recommended dose of Cats Claw for three months and then take the normal dose from then on.

I spoke to my consultant, and he gave me three months to try it. After three months all the symptoms had gone and after six I was cured.

This has totally changed my life like you would expect. Cats Claw is available in most Holland and Barratt Stores at under six pounds for ninety capsules.
