WOULD YOU BE A PET SITTER?
The idea was imported from the United States and now Britain’s pet owners are breathing a huge sigh of relief. No more wrestling Kitty into her cat box or marching Rover into an environment of barking dogs. And the neighbours won’t need to hide from when the suitcases appear in the drive! As an animal lover, I pride myself in being one of the first to recognise the need for this service, a service where animals can carry on their regular routine in the comfort of familiar surroundings. Nina’s Nannies for Pets was born during the spring of 1999. My husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in September of ‘98, I survived a brain haemorrhage some 5 months later. Together we decided that our life-long dream of working with animals needed to be fulfilled. I started my business on a small scale. Feeding cats and caged animals, and then progressed naturally to walking dogs whilst their owners were at work. As the business expanded so did my need for staff, and I realized a live-in service was hugely in demand. My clients are fussy. They demand more mature people, with a wealth of experience in both lifetime experience and animals. Someone to keep a cool head when Fido refuses to take his morning constitutional, or when kitty decides to terrorise the budgie! My staff are priceless. They are people who work past
retirement, people who who have a love of animals, but do not
want the responsibility that goes with them. They are the
PERFECT pet/home sitters. They are the people with ‘WALKIES’
tattooed on their forehead! laterlife interest The above article is part of the features section of laterlife.com called laterlife interest. laterlife interest contains a variety of articles of interest for visitors to laterlife.com written by a number of experienced and new journalists.
