Breaking the sound barrier goes on tour

Our Breaking the Sound Barrier campaign is going on tour to
encourage people
to take our telephone hearing check.
The bus will be stopping at a number of locations around the UK
and will feature a sound and light show.
The first stop is on 25 September 2006 at 8pm in Exchange
Square, Manchester where a surprise guest will launch the tour.
If you are concerned about your hearing take the check by
calling 0845 600 5555 (local rates apply).
Help us reduce waiting times for digital hearing aids

A recent survey by The British Society of Hearing Aid
Audiologists has shown that some people will have to wait for
five years to get a hearing aid on the NHS.
We are campaigning to urge the government to keep their promise
to publish their plan to reduce waiting times.
You can get involved by:
- contacting your MP
- becoming a media case study.

Don’t lose the music
updates

Our Don’t Lose the Music campaign has had a busy summer
encouraging music fans to protect their hearing.
We gave out 100,000 earplugs at festivals and we launched our
first ever Don’t Lose the Music week.
During the week our noise squad tested the volume of people’s
MP3 players and gave out earplugs, advice and leaflets. Experts
agree that listening to sounds at or above 80 decibels over time
can cause hearing loss, and many people were listening at levels
above that.
