Makeup Tips for Special Events this Summer

Have you a special occasion this summer, maybe a wedding or some other event, at which you want to look especially fabulous? I am assuming that you have found a wonderful outfit and now you want to complete the look with some amazing makeup!

Here some ideas for how you can 'up your game' for a summer party look:

  1. Start a skin improvement programme at least 6 weeks before the special day. If you don't want the expense of salon treatments then go to a chemist (Boots or Superdrug) and buy an exfoliator, a moisture mask, some serum and a good night and day moisturiser. Your skin is the canvas on which you will paint your face - so prepare it well!

  2. Practice your makeup beforehand and try it with your outfit. Make sure that the colours you are wearing as eye makeup, blush and lipstick suit your skin tone and also the clothes you will be wearing.

  3. On the day itself allow time to shower (or bathe), do your hair and apply your makeup. Don't apply your makeup to hot damp skin as it will 'slide' off and within an hour or two will have disappeared.

  4. Wear primers. Our Face Prime will smoothe your skin and ensure that your makeup stays fresh for up to 12 hours. LFF Eye Prime will similarly keep your eye makeup in place, even on a hot day. Finally our Lip Prime will stop your lipstick from feathering and will make it last longer.

  5. A good foundation like our Fabulous Base will even skin tone and cover blemishes or age spots whilst looking fresh and dewy. Many older women choose a tinted moisturiser but this won't give you enough coverage or longevity for your special occasion.

  6. Define your eyebrows so that they frame not only your eyes but your whole face. Get them professionally shaped and then use our Brow Shape to create realistic and beautifully groomed brows

  7. Choose a cheek colour and a lip colour which compliment each other. Cool toned skins (blue undertone) look beautiful in blushers that are true pinks like our Rosy Glow and Lip Colours like LFF Sweet Pea, Soft Plum or Cherry Red. If you are warm toned (yellow undertone) then our Peach Cream Blush and Lip Colours in Soft Coral and Foxy Lady will fit the bill and make you look amazing.

Our makeup tutorial above shows you a step by step process for applying makeup on the great day so that you can achieve a really beautiful result. All the products featured in the tutorial are available in the Mother of the Bride or Groom Collection for with 15% discount.
