Politics is too serious to be left to Politicians!

Here at LaterLife we tend to be resource based, giving access to information and latest news about items that are of particular interest to our age group.

But at our age, we have all lived through many elections and seen many political promises broken and forecasts never coming to fruition.

Sometimes the things that famous politicians have said are very apt – and sometimes very funny too. But what is really interesting is that nothing seems to have changed over the years – and centuries!!

A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.
Winston Churchill

Since a politician never believes what he says, he is quite surprised to be taken at his word.
Charles De Gaulle

We hang petty thieves and appoint the bigger thieves to public office.
Aesop, Greek author

Oscar Amringer, "the Mark Twain of American Socialism."

I offered my opponents a deal: "if they stop telling lies about me, I will stop telling the truth about them".

A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country.
Texas Guinan. 19th century American businessman

Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks.
Doug Larson (English middle-distance runner who won gold medals at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, 1902-1981)

Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.
Plato, ancient Greek Philosopher

When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become PM; I'm beginning to believe it.

John Quinton, American actor/writer

"I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn't study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people."
