Edinburgh and Egypt are the places to be in 2003 as Age Concern Scotland
celebrates its 60 anniversary this year. Help
Age Concern Scotland celebrate this important anniversary by getting involved in these
charity events.
Are you seeking a fun challenge? If
so, then Age Concern Scotland has a space for you in the Great Scottish Walk in Edinburgh
on June 22, 2003. Have a fun day out with
family and friends while walking 12 miles, or 6 miles, through scenic Edinburgh all for a
good cause. If you feel you cannot manage the 12 or 6 mile distance then there is
"The Golden Mile" which will be held on Meadowbank Stadium while the Walk is
taking place. Its our goal to have 60
participants this year.
For the more adventurous, let Age Concern Scotland take you to Egypt from
October 5-12, 2003 for a 400km bike ride along the Nile. Enjoy
some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, marvel at the splendour of the ancient
monuments, encounter the overwhelming hospitality of the Egyptian people
and know
that your efforts will be enriching the lives of older people in Scotland.
For 60 years Age Concern Scotland has
worked to end the scandal of older people living in poverty, in poor housing and in poor
health. We have also worked to help enable
older people to be fully included in society and free from prejudice and abuse. Our 60th Jubilee anniversary is not
only a way to celebrate our accomplishments, it is also a way to inform the public of how
much still needs to be done for the older people of Scotland! Plus, these events are a way to highlight the
positive aspects of aging as well.
Please help make a difference to the lives of older people in Scotland. To secure your place in any of the above charity
events, please e-mail Joty Bakshi Sharma at joty.sharma@acscot.org.uk,
or call 0131 625-9328.
