Pssst…it’s not just music you can listen to on
your iPod you know!
BBC Audio Zone on Audible.co.uk
BBC Audiobooks has launched a new
mini-site:
BBC Audio Zone through the digital retailer
Audible.co.uk. With a
whole range of genres available, audio downloads are set to become
the next big thing for the iPod generation. A trend that has been
growing in the USA, downloads are on the increase worldwide. The
ease of use and the breadth of material offers listeners the chance
to add an extra dimension to their mp3 players. The latest RAJAR
figures have shown that radio listening figures are on the increase
with audiences choosing to tune in via their computers, mobile
phones and mp3 players. Audio downloads are an extension of this and
as listeners seek a wider range of choice, everything they need from
comedy, sci-fi, drama, novels and childrens titles to personal
development can be found on
BBC Audio Zone.
The BBC Audio Zone (reached through
bbcaudiozone.com) has over 1400 BBC Audiobook titles available
to sample and download from the latest Alan Bennett to contemporary
comedy releases from Little Britain, the Mighty Boosh and Mitchell &
Webb. The mini-site is also highlighted on Audible’s home page and
can be reached by clicking on the link in the top navigation bar. It
is divided into easily navigable categories such as children’s,
classic fiction and comedy.
Content can be downloaded and played on your PC
and MP3 player or burned onto a CD. The ease of use has made this
popular with both parents looking to spend a quiet car journey and
commuters after a more entertaining way to spend their journeys. The
range of content caters for all tastes from the avid science fiction
fan to history buffs and offers a chance to listen again to classic
programmes such as the Paul Temple mysteries.
