| Grandchildren go free at the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum
The British Empire & Commonwealth Museum is offering the chance
to treat the grandchildren to visit Britain s newest national Museum free of charge.
Up to and including Grandparents Day
on 27th September 2003,
visitors can enjoy free entry for their grandchildren in a special promotion. Please
quote 'laterlife' to the cashier to get your discount'. Up to two children can be admitted
with one full paying adult.
The award-winning Museum, based
at Temple Meads in Bristol, has plenty to keep the most energetic children entertained.
With the opportunity to dress up in period costume, play computer games, learn morse code
and sample exotic spices, the main exhibition floor is packed full of interactive
exhibits. There are even special activities for families during the school holidays.
As an added bonus
children can also enjoy the Museums brand new
special exhibition - On Your Marks! - a hands-on sporting attraction suitable for the
whole family. Using an indoor area the size of a typical sports
hall, On Your Marks! is full of large sporting interactives. See how many penalties you
can score in sixty seconds. Have a go at the basketball challenge or try out your batting
skills in the unique indoor cricket net.
For
younger children there is even a soft play area where exhausted parents and grandparents
can watch all the action from the comfort of the sofas provided.
The
main exhibition floor offers sixteen themed galleries to see, covering the dramatic 500
year history of the rise and fall of the British
empire and the emergence of the
Commonwealth. It is llustrated with authentic
objects, rare film, costumes, photographs and sound recordings.
The
Museum is open every day from 10am
until
5pm
including weekends and bank holidays. Normal prices are
£5.95 adults, senior citizens £4.95, Children (5-15) £3.95.
