The Joseph Rowntree Foundation

November 2004

Cover pictureThe Joseph Rowntree Foundation has published an overview of its Older People Programme

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s Older People Programme has been developed with, and primarily by, older people. This overview report brings together the 18 projects from the programme, documenting older people’s views about what helps them to live well in later life.

Older people shaping policy and practice challenges negative stereotypes of old age, suggesting that older people define their lives quite differently to service and research agendas. It highlights where mainstream services need further development in order to serve older people more effectively and illustrates the importance of involving older people individually in policy, research and services.

Older people shaping policy and practice is available as a free PDF download or can be purchased as a paperback report, price ?14.95 plus postage and packing, from
