Josh Salzmann is one of the UK’s leading fitness experts and has been
Hollywood’s favourite instructor for over a decade.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Josh is the son of a working
class rabbi. He struggled with a weight problem in his childhood
years and his mum tried every diet available. It was not until he
found his eventual love of ‘working out’ that the weight was lost. |
In 1974, Josh captained
his high school football team and also achieved 2nd place in the US
junior national wrestling championships. Josh went to Union College in
Schenectady, New York, where he graduated with a degree in Russian
History. His first job was a conditioning coach for the Tel Aviv
professional football/basketball teams.
In 1984, Josh moved to London to become an aerobics instructor in Covent
Garden, where he was introduced to his first ‘major’ client, John Cleese.
The task that he set Josh was to get him into shape for a nude scene in
‘A Fish called Wanda’. He also worked for Angelina Jolie in ‘Tomb
Raider’ in 2001 and Hugh Jackman in the X-Men films in 2002/3. Josh has
also been working with Scarlett Johansson on a film to be released in
2005.
In 1986, Josh set up a gym at the famous Wentworth Club in Surrey. His
client list combined a mix of celebrity, business and sports clients,
including the Sarah, Duchess of York. He has appeared on many UK TV
shows and worked with the Sunday Times.
|
Josh has a simple approach to fitness. His DVD product - The Truth About
Fitness - was launched worldwide recently and will bring his philosophy
to a wider audience. Sarah, Duchess of York, Hugh Jackman, Michael
Parkinson and Kenneth Brannagh have all supported the marketing of the
project, which is destined to be one of the biggest fitness product
launches in 2005/06.
