Lasercare - Treatments for Broken Veins, Blemish & Birthmark Removal, Lines and Wrinkles, Botox, Collagen, Tattoo removal, Cosmetic surgery and more

Looking Good in laterlife is a regular column reporting on the latest tips on beauty products and processes for the more mature face and body.

Anyone who has looked after her (or his) appearance over the years has the edge in later life compared to ravers who burned all their candles at both ends. But skin, hair, eyes, lips, silhouette still show the years after fifty. Extra skin dryness, puffy eye areas, sagging around the chin, wrinkles – they all can benefit from special treatments.

3lookinggood.jpg (14084 bytes)A vast industry is out there to help with all and every beauty concern. In this column every month laterlife.com will report on ideas and products, old and new. The practical results of everything from creamy cleansers to mud baths will be brought to you. All with the focus on maturity of course.

Belinda Brown reports on

Nutrimetics – a very special personal service

You won’t find Nutrimetics items on department store counters, but this company’s blend of personal service and product purity has made it the number one choice for Australian women. Its network of trained beauty consultants extends to 12 countries - including the UK, US, France, Canada and Greece - where the philosophy of personal service has created many dedicated fans.

“We meet our clients through personal introduction,” says Nutrimetics consultant Betty Manning. “We visit individuals in their own homes, but ideally we like to visit a group of around six friends together, and then we demonstrate a range of products to suit them individually. We take time to assess each person’s skin type before making recommendations about what would suit them. All skins, including mature skins, vary enormously and one size definitely doesn’t fit all! We pride ourselves in developing one-to-one relationships with our clients, who always have the freedom to try and buy in a friendly environment. Our products are delivered on a mail order basis with a 30-day return clause and no hard sell.”

Every one of Nutrimetics products is based on natural plant ingredients. They are tested in a skin clinic at a UK hospital against allergies, and the company even has its own toxicologist who looks for any long-term effects.

Nutrimetics was born in the 1950s, when its founder journeyed to a valley in the Himalayas where the inhabitants - the Hunzacuts – were rumoured to have found the secret of longevity, youthful looks and clear skin. The latter, he discovered, was down to apricot kernel oil, which they applied to their skins every day to protect them from the harshness of their environment.

Today, Nutri-Rich Oil remains the crown jewel of the Nutrimetics range. Based on apricot kernel oil and enriched with natural Vitamin E and carrot oil, the company claims that it brings great nourishing benefits to the skin, making it feel soft and supple. Sold as a night-time face treatment, it also is good for dry skin anywhere on the body. Nutrimetics have conducted their own clinical tests, and  they say that, after 28 days of regular use, it leaves the skin 25 per cent smoother and with up to 38 per cent greater firmness and elasticity. And at £29.50 for 60 ml, you’re getting real value for money.

Nutrimetics boasts six complete skincare collections, with a range of ingredients that  includes vitamin E, carrot oil, shea butter, macadamia oil, aloe vera, avocado, honey, almonds, evening primrose oil. “These have been used by Nutrimetics for many years and are now the buzzwords on every upmarket  cosmetic list,” says Betty.

Their anti-ageing selection, Restore, includes a  patented ‘depot’ 24 hour delivery system to provide antioxidants and lessen appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The range includes Balancing Cleansing and Toning lotions, Day Crème, Night Crème, Eye Lift  and Firming Facial Masque. Two other anti-ageing products, Specific Care Day Lotion and Anti-Wrinkle Retinol Serum are designed to provide sun protection, moisturise, improve skin firmness and elasticity.

There’s a range of products for men, as well as body and hand creams and lotions,  aromatherapy foot balms, lipsticks, foundations, eye colour, perfume, hair care. The variety of products, all based on natural ingredients, is very impressive. Items in each range can be bought individually or as part of a set, and the company frequently runs promotions that enable clients to buy at discounted prices.

“All our products are economical to use,” says Betty Manning. “You can buy a year’s supply of high performance skincare products for £60 – while resting assured that every ingredient we use has undergone rigorous testing and safety procedures. We never test on animals and we always abide strictly by international regulations.”

The prices are the best news of all about this company. Since it only take orders through its own consultants or through mail order, there’s no middle man, no outside distributor, no store to pay. And that keeps prices down. These are high-class products at affordable prices. Look at the catalogue and price list, and be pleasantly surprised.

Since 1997, Nutrimetics has been owned by the giant Sara Lee Corporation, which remains committed to its philosophy of natural products at affordable prices.

The company has consultants operating in the UK in London, the south east, parts of the south west, Wales, south midlands. And there are plans to expand country wide.

For further details and catalogue, contact Betty Manning on 020 8445 3715 or bettyem@lineone.net, or Jane Rieman on 01737 248408 or email janerieman@hotmail.com.
