Planning Retirement Online

A pets` guide to winter wellbeing

Help the Aged offers useful information to ensure that you  have happy bunnies (or cats, dogs, hamsters, etc) whatever the weather

Did you know?

  • Animals that are outside need 25% more food during the cold weather to generate enough heat for the body to stay warm

  • Animals cannot burn calories without water.  See that your pet has a fresh supply of drinking water, preferably indoors so that it does not freeze

  • Grit, salt, ice and snow can irritate your pet’s paws.  Grit and salt can also cause injury if digested, so keep those paws clean

  •  Pets gain better insulation when their coats are well-groomed

  •  Dogs can get hypothermia if they have been in freezing cold water for a few minutes - keep them securely on a lead if walking near icy water

Help the Aged Insurance provides affordable premiums, with a pet insurance plan  tailored to meet the needs of over the 50s. These include Buildings and Contents, Travel, Caravan and Motor Insurance as well as Pet.
