Saving for Your Pension
Two years on since the start of the credit crunch and we are now finally seeing the effects hitting Britain’s pension savers where it hurts according to the sixth annual Scottish Widows UK Pensions Report. While saving for retirement has slowly been on the rise in recent years, the latest Report reveals that countless people have saved less because of the recession, with women over 50 being the hardest hit.
In order to avoid falling into this trap, see what was said
by Scottish Widows savings expert Ian Naismith who was on hand to offer some straightforward guidance on how to prepare for your retirement.
Demise of the Default Retirement Age
At the end of July the Government announced that
the Default Retirement Age would be dropped by October 2011. No
longer will employers be able to make staff retire at the age of
65.
Good news for us all! Or is it?
Tony
Clack, Founder of Laterlife.com and Laterlife Learning, wrote an
analysis of the implications of this, which was published on the
Guardian Online a week before this latest announcement.
Read
his full analysis and give us your views of what this will
mean.
Scale new heights with laterlife.com
The laterlife.com climbing wall at the Retirement
Show at Olympia on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th July was a huge
success. If you haven't yet seen the photos be sure to do so.

Almost 200 people enjoyed climbing the wall
over the 2 days with an amazing number reaching the top. The two
eldest to reach the top being 75! It truly was a great example
of how retirement has changed and how those of us who are
retired are up for the opportunities retirement presents and the
chance to try something new.
