You will be encouraged to understand and enjoy the richness of
Tuscan life by experts on Italian history, society and art.
You will arrive in Montalcino on a Sunday afternoon. During the week your mornings will
most often be spent in the specially adapted music room of an eighteenth-century theatre. Learn Italy
programmes are taught through relaxed learning methods appropriate for small groups (never
more than fourteen).
After a light lunch, you will usually have the early afternoon to yourself. In the late
afternoon we will visit places of interest in Montalcino or a neighbouring town, or in the
surrounding countryside. Venues are likely to include a wine estate and the exquisite
Romanesque abbey of Sant'Antimo, as well as Siena, Pienza and Montepulciano. You
will be able to enjoy these visits at your own pace and on your own terms, while having
access to expert advice.
Small family-run hotels have been carefully selected to make your stay as pleasant as
possible. All are central, and within easy walking distance of each other and everything
that Montalcino has to offer. We also select the best rooms, featuring antique furniture,
or breathtaking views.
At night, on four of your seven nights with us, the group will eat in restaurants in
Montalcino and in the surrounding countryside, some quite simple, others more luxurious,
so you will become familiar with some of the range and variety of Tuscan food and wine.
On Saturday - your last full day in Italy unless you are continuing
your holiday under your own steam - you will have a free day to spend as you please. We
can help you plan your day - a walk in the countryside, perhaps, or a return trip to
Siena. Your flight home is on a Sunday. |
