You may be arranging a family holiday in Wales during the spring half term, or you may in fact be planning the opposite and having a kids-free holiday when the schools go back. Either way, you’ll want to plan some fun things to do during your stay in Wales, so here are a few ideas to get you started.

Three Castles Wlesh Classic Trials - 1st-4th June

This great event will again be based in Llandudno, with competitors enjoying four days of competitive rallying in a relaxed format. Their cars will cover around 450 miles, visiting many of the most attractive locations in North Wales, visiting great places for meals and overnight stays, and travelling over scenic rally roads and private land.

Wales Senior Open Championship - 3rd-5th June


Celtic Manor Hotel and Roman Road Golf Course, Newport


The Celtic Manor Resort, in Newport, hosts the tournament which has returned to the European Senior Tour schedule.

Monmouthshire Food Festival - 4th-5th June


Come along to Caldicot Castle and visit the Cookery Theatre, the Producer's Market and the Children's quarter. The chefs will demonstrate dishes from fine dining restaurants to top quality pubs.

Gerynog Festival - 16th-26th June


Gregynog Festival is the oldest extant classical music festival in Wales held in the  countryside of rural North Powys,. The Festival features performances by the world's leading artists in intimate historic locations. The theme this season is the music of France.

Drovers' Walks - 25th June


Countryside near Llanwrtyd Wells, Mid Wales by alanhitchcock49

These walks follow in the footsteps of the Drovers of old who used to drive their sheep, cattle, pigs and geese across the mountains to the market towns of England. There is a choice of 10, 15 or 25 mile distances, through the beautiful summer countryside around Llanwrtyd Wells, using where possible some of the old Drovers' trails which still criss cross the area.

Hijinx Unity Festival - 29th June - 3rd July


Borderlines, the Mozambican dance piece by Panaibra Gabriel Canda / Culturate by Michael Bause

Five days of performances showcasing inclusive and disability arts from around the world.  Performers from Mozambique, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and aross the UK will perform in Cardiff’s vibrant City Centre and at the prestigious Wales Millennium Centre.

North Wales Bluegrass Festival - 30th June - 3rd July


Guitar at the North Wales Bluegrass Festival, Conwy

This year marks the 28th North Wales Bluegrass Festival based in Conwy, offering a hoedown of traditional American folk music complete with banjos and double bases.  The lineup include hosts Highly Strung, Brian Golbey, The Dude Coopers and many more.
